HISTORY
For over four decades, I’ve been immersed in the world of building and repairing things. My journey began at the age of twelve when my friend’s dad generously provided us with used lumber to construct our first building, which, though a bit rustic, became our cherished clubhouse. In high school, I honed my skills in shop class and even sold furniture I crafted to my teachers. Working with my hands has always been a natural talent of mine.
In 1980, I embarked on a six-year journey in the US Coast Guard, a time when I found great fulfillment in serving my country. It was during this period that I developed invaluable leadership and responsibility skills.
Upon returning to the Collinsville area in 1986, I embarked on my carpentry career, gradually expanding my expertise to encompass plumbing and electrical work. In 2010, I obtained a certificate in HVAC from South Western IL College, eventually returning to become an instructor in both electrical and HVAC.
MY BEGINNING IN THE BUSINESS
In 2007, I initiated my remodeling service under the name Green Remodeling, offering services ranging from kitchen and bathroom renovations to room additions and general remodeling. In early 2019, I rebranded the business as Virginia Handyman Express, driven by a vision to establish a remodeling enterprise that stands apart from the usual 99% you may have encountered. You know the type – hard to reach, unresponsive, unreliable, tardy, intimidating, or lacking in competence. I’m confident you’ve encountered at least one of these in the past.
